Sew-Sew, Yay or No?

Ah, winter break. For a second, face planting onto the couch,  I thought I had "nothing to do". Then, I remembered the pile of large tees waiting for me to create something out of them!
I got to work on sewing a dress. I have a sewing machine, but I am not one for using technology if I don't have to. Yes, it probably took me at least ten times longer, but I sewed a dress by hand. It's different, and a bit more Cinderelly than I anticipated. It fits me well though, so either way I am internally at peace with myself for creating a functioning piece of clothing.
What do you think, wearable, or BLNT (better luck next time)? Comments are welcome! :)

Yes, the back is purposely diagonal, with a sort of bow where it gathers.

Merry Christmas! (and Pretty Hair)

Need an idea for a fancy-looking hairstyle, fast?
Money doesn't grow on trees, and some of us, like myself, have never had our hair professionally styled- leaving me no choice but to get creative myself! I was actually really happy with the results of recently experimenting with my hair for a Christmas party. Here's how:
Your end result will be a pretty side pony. With the end of  a comb, create a side part on the side opposite you normally part your hair (if you already had a side part). This is an easy way to add a little volume on top. On the side with less hair, braid all the hair that lies in front of your ear. Leave it for now.
On the other side, twist your hair so that the top poufs. Twist til' you get to where you'll tie your side pony, and hold it there! Take the rest of your hair to that spot, including the braid, and hair-tie it. Hair spray that pouf so it stays all day (the thicker your hair the less it will want to stay on its own!)
The Twist

Now just curl sections of your ponytail for a really pretty classic-y hairstyle! (Ceramic curling iron is my favorite). Finish with more hairspray. Get to it!

Oh yeah, the holidays are a perfect time to break out the fake lashes, if you feel comfortable with using em! They can be scary at first, but with practice, they become your best friend. Mascara on bottom lashes make your eyes look flawless! Happy Holidays. ;)

Be a Knock-Out, Even in This Weather

I can't say the weather has been nice here the past couple days. Okay, it has been a perfect setting for a horror movie! Why should we look forward to these wintery months? (Well besides the holidays, obviously :D ) Because, this is the season where it is okay to go darker with make-up without looking like a freak! When you are left with no choice but to wear your warm winter coat again that is, well, kinda boring, bold lips or dramatic cat eyes bring life to your look. (Also adding a fun, unique scarf never fails.)

Inspiration from The Wall

Don't forget to blend, or taper off to lighter shades, like brown or grey.

Okay, so I'm still a freak either way.

The "Wall of Inspiration"

If I ever wake up in the morning having no idea what to wear or how to do my make-up, staring at the wall never fails. What AM I talking about? I would like to introduce you to my "Wall of Inspiration". I have one wall in my room that I have slowly but surely been turning into a big collage of fashion and things that inspire me. (I don't know why it would not let me rotate it, sorry)

I was flipping through 'Elle' last night - I don't usually follow that magazine- always good to try new things! - and I saw an ad that said, "There is no occasion too small for a giant bow". OH my goodness. That is SO true! (Cut it out and added it to the Wall.) Never be afraid of bold accessories. Sticking a big bow on your head is an easy way to brighten up your outfit, and your day!

My own take on the bow- made it out of duct tape!

Yay! People!

Hello! This is my very first blog, so its purpose is just to get acquainted with this thing you call "blogging".  I thought it would be cool to start an actual blog, since I have always been so interested in the art of fashion, and this seems better than just trying to share my art through email or facebook. I'm not trying to become famous here, ( but that would be awesome, so feel free to share this if you love it! :D ) Check back soon for fashion advice, inspiration, ideas, and whatever else ends up on this little blog!

Thanks for being interested! You are the best. Shine your brightest. :)
